Carlos Santana Apologizes for Beyonce Grammys Diss: ‘I Have The Utmost Respect For Her’

That, as you can imagine, did not go over well with the Beyhive, who swarmed the “Oye Como Va” star with great vengeance and furious anger on Twitter. It didn’t help that he kind of doubled-down on the diss, adding, “Adele can sing, sing. She doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that’s it, and this is why she wins.”

As you might recall, Adele herself paid homage to Queen Bey in a big way when she won Album of the Year for her smash 25, calling Beyoncé an inspiration and an icon. “But my artist of my life is Beyoncé and this album, for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental,” Adele said.

After unleashing the firestorm, Santana took to Facebook Tuesday night to clarify the comments, saying they were taken out of context. “My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the Grammies,” he wrote. “My comment about Beyonce was regretfully taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way.” A spokesperson for Santana could not be reached for comment at press time.
